Kim Chiu and Barbie Forteza weighed in on the age-old debate of city life versus provincial life.

The 33-year-old It’s Showtime host initiated the discussion by asking, “Mas ma-siyudad ka ba or mas sa bundok-bundok ganyan?”

Barbie, who hails from Biñan, Laguna, reminisced about her upbringing in the province, recounting the joy and simplicity that come with provincial life.

She expressed, “Growing up kasi sa province. Province pala! Naranasan ko ang province life. Masaya talaga kung sa masaya.”

However, she quickly added another viewpoint that focuses mainly on her aspirations for her family’s future.

“Sobrang saya nun [probinsya life],” Barbie reiterated.

“Pero parang, siyempre, yung kasama ko yung pamilya ko ngayon, e. Siyempre, yung pangarap ko para sa pamilya ko, city life.”

The Kapuso actress elaborated that despite her fondness for the province: “Kahit gusto ko ng province life, siyempre gusto ko yung best for my family, so, city life.”

ACCESSIBILITY

Kim and Barbie then explored the benefits of living in the city, especially in terms of healthcare and employment opportunities.

Barbie pointed out the convenience of having essential facilities, like hospitals nearby, which is especially important during emergencies.

“Kasi parang nandun na lahat, the hospital. Andun din ang trabaho natin,” she said.

Meanwhile, Kim concurred, emphasizing the importance of staying close to family while pursuing one’s career milestones.

Pinoy Big Brother‘s “Chinese Cutie of Cebu” echoed: “Yes, that is so true! Para hindi rin tayo mahiwalay sa kanila.

“That is so true. City life talaga is the best.”

RETIREMENT PLACE

Nonetheless, their conversation took a reflective turn as they discussed the later stages of life.

Kim humorously mentioned, “Pero pag jonders [old] ka na talaga…,” prompting Barbie to agree that retiring to the province might become a more appealing option for peace and tranquility.

Barbie noted: “Pag gusto mo nang mag-retire, ayan. Yes, puwede [province].”

“Dun ka na sa province, simoy simoy na lang,” Kim concluded.
