Sparkle artist Kyline Alcantara is ready for the next chapter. She is currently busy with “Shining Inheritance,” where she plays contrabida Joanna dela Costa.

Adapted from the Korean TV series, Kyline shared during her guest appearance on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” last week that this version has “a touch of Philippine drama.” “It’s a bit heavier in a sense,” she added.

She also expressed how proud she was about the series because so much work went into it. “We gave our heart, soul, and sweat. You can see it in every scene,” she said.

Kyline Alcantara on staying busy and sticking to her ‘non-negotiables’

Kyline approaches each role she is given by combining the background on the character provided by the writers with her own personal experiences. That way, she is able to flesh it out and make the character more well-rounded.

When asked about her split with Mavy Legaspi, Kyline said she was grateful for it because it made her who she is today. “In every relationship I have or had — whether it’s a friendly or romantic one — I always try to learn something from it, from both the good and bad experiences. Right now, I think we should move on from that experience,” she shared.

She recently told me what she looks for in a potential partner. “I guess he would be someone who will try to understand and accept me for who I am — together with my flaws. The one who will cheer during my ups, and who will say, ‘It’s okay, you’ve still got it’ during my lows. Lastly, he would be someone who will understand my relationship with God. He doesn’t need to have the same beliefs as mine, but he should be someone who will respect and value my beliefs and relationship with God,” Kyline said.

Kyline (who is rumored to be dating Kobe Paras) tells me what she looks for in a potential partner: ‘He would be someone who will understand my relationship with God. He doesn’t need to have the same beliefs as mine, but he should be someone who will respect and value my beliefs.

Mutual respect is non-negotiable for this Kapuso actress. She enumerated four specific points: respect for her family and relationship with God; respect for her work and the time she needs to devote to it; respect for her space and her words, especially when she says no; and respect for her ideals and values.

“These are what I can think about now, but I’m sure as the relationship progresses, there will be more. I’m also willing to compromise, and we can discuss my partner’s non-negotiables as well. Again, communication is a very important factor in a relationship, be it romantic, spiritual, or even platonic,” she said.

Kyline is also a softie who appreciates thoughtful gestures, like when “someone” dropped by while she was in the middle of a shoot. “Someone watched me during my taping and stayed until my performance. I truly appreciate it when people spend time with me despite their busy schedules,” she shared.

Could that “someone” be Kobe Paras, who has been linked to Kyline since May? Is he the right one for her?

“It’s a question I’m still figuring out. I don’t want to answer with a cliché, but for sure, heart is one of the factors. There could be a thousand and one reasons for you to believe that you and your partner are right for each other, but I think it takes the right balance of work and good communication… so, eventually, you can be right for each other. And maybe that’s worth a try.”

Recently, Kyline celebrated her birthday with her mom, some of her closest friends, and, of course, Kobe in New York. She was also seen walking the runway along with Michelle Dee at the New York Fashion Week for Filipino designer Chris Nick.
