Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James couldn’t be any happier after the Miami Heat dropped some updates on their planned statue tribute for Dwyane Wade.

In January, the Heat announced that they plan to honor Wade by putting up a statue outside Kaseya Center later in 2024. On Thursday, the team finally unveiled the key dates when they plan to celebrate unarguably the greatest Miami player of all time.
According to the Heat, they will reveal Wade’s statue on October 27 before hosting a statue night the next day, October 28, when they are scheduled to play the Detroit Pistons in the 2024-25 regular season.

After seeing the announcement, James shared it on his Instagram Stories. The Lakers star and two-time NBA champion with the Heat included several raising hands emojis as caption, highlighting how hyped he is for his good friend and former teammate.

There’s no doubt that Dwyane Wade deserves the statue tribute. After all, he’s the most successful player in the franchise’s history, despite the team bringing in players like LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal during its storied history.

Wade was drafted fifth overall by the Heat back in 2003 and spent 15 of his 17 seasons in the league with Miami. In his time with the franchise, he made 13 All-Star teams and won the 2008-09 scoring title (averaging 30.2 points per game)
Of course, Wade also has three NBA championships with the Heat, even winning Finals MVP in 2005-06.

It remains to be seen if James will be present when the Heat unveil Wade’s statue on October 27. However, considering that the Lakers have a game in Phoenix the next day, it might be difficult for him to make it.
