LeBron James is still amazed that he’ll be spending time on the court with his son, Bronny, as members of the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2024-25 season.

“I am so excited for training camp,” James said during the latest episode of The Shop (18:35 mark). “Having your son work with you, it’s like the greatest thing. I can’t wait for this moment. I really cannot wait to hit the floor, it’s going to be pretty surreal for me.”

The pair already represents the first active father-son duo in NBA history.

The younger James was selected by the Lakers with the No. 55 overall pick in the 2024 draft after spending the 2023 season with USC.

He started off slow in the Las Vegas Summer League, shooting just 3-14 on field goals in his first game. However, the 19-year-old was able to bounce back and averaged 12.5 points per game while shooting 47.6 percent from the field throughout his final two appearances.

As the Lakers attempt to return to the playoffs next season following a disappointing first-round loss to the Denver Nuggets, James might not have a guaranteed spot in new head coach JJ Redick’s rotation. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on July 3 that the former Trojan is expected to spend the majority of his rookie season in the G League.

Meanwhile, his father secured his own future in Los Angeles after signing a two-year, $101.3 million contract with the team on July 6.

The NBA’s all-time leading scorer is hardly showing any signs of slowing down at 39 years old, as he averaged 25.7 points and 8.3 assists per game on 54.0/41.0/75.0 shooting splits in 71 appearances last season.

LeBron and Bronny will begin preparing for the 2024-25 season together once Los Angeles’ training camp begins on Oct. 1.
