Paris Jackson has gone on the record on numerous occasions over the years, sharing memories about her famous childhood with Michael Jackson and what life was like living on Neverland Ranch.

When it comes to the Jackson children, practically every element of their lives has been out of the ordinary, from their highly publicized births to the aftermath of the allegations on the controversial documentary Leaving Neverland.

This has undoubtedly left a permanent mark on the lives of Paris and her siblings, but Paris has also been very grateful for the life she was given growing up, despite this.

The Jackson children spent the vast majority of their time inside Neverland Ranch where they were home-schooled, only making the occasional appearance in public, where they would have their faces disguised with masks, as seen in Martin Bashir’s documentary Living with Michael Jackson.

In an interview with Rolling Stone Paris gave back in 2017, Paris reminisced about her childhood in Neverland and gave people a glimpse into the kind of life Paris and her siblings had:

“We couldn’t just go on the rides whenever we wanted to. Like, we had school every single day, and we had to be good. And if we were good, every other weekend or so, we could choose whether we were gonna go to the movie theatre or see the animals or whatever.”

Paris continued:

“But if you were on bad behaviour, then you wouldn’t get to go do all those things.”

Suggesting that Paris and her siblings’ lives were more normal than a lot of people realized, it wasn’t always fun-fairs and carousels, their schooling was seen as very important as well.

However, Paris also noted that having such a famous father meant that her life was inevitably going to be different from her peers:

“When you’re at home, your dad, who you love more than anything, will occasionally come in, in the middle of class, and it’s like, ‘Cool, no more class for the day. We’re gonna go hang out with Dad.’ We were like, ‘We don’t need friends. We’ve got you and Disney Channel!’”

For the most part, Paris has always looked back on her childhood with fondness, but following her father’s death in 2009, when she was aged 11, things would start to spiral out of control for young Paris.

Following Michael Jackson’s death in 2009, Paris and her siblings went to live with their grandmother Katherine Jackson and their co-guardian TJ Jackson, who was Michael Jackson’s nephew.

However, the years following Michael’s death were inevitably difficult for Paris, with Paris opening up about the depression and addiction she struggled with after her father’s death.

Paris stated that the reason behind her struggles with depression and addiction was triggered by the death of Michael and would spiral out of control into her constantly thinking negative things about herself.

According to Paris:

“It was just self-hatred, thinking that I couldn’t do anything right,”

Highlighting the uphill struggle that Paris has had to endure in her tumultuous life, but Paris, now 22 years old has seemingly turned her life around, putting the past behind her and looks set to carve out a career in the movie industry. With her role as Jesus in Habit currently causing a lot of controversy.

Paris Jackson is currently in the spotlight due to her role in a controversial film called Habit, where she plays the role of a lesbian Jesus. The film has generated a backlash for being “Christophobic” and has generated a petition with more than 70,000 demanding it to be banned.

When Paris was 21 years old she bought a house in Topanga, California for approximately $2 million back in 2017, and continues to be based there as she continues to pursue her career in the media.

Paris Jackson is currently trying to carve out her own path in the media away from her past, and looks like she is set to make a big name for herself in the future.
