All things considered, Michael Jackson was one of the greatest and most talented entertainers of the 20th century. Quincy Jones, who contributed to Jackson’s most successful solo albums, including Off the Wall , Thriller and Bad, was stunned by the news of his death. “I lost my little brother. A part of my soul went with him,” Jones said this morning.
Michael Jackson was born in 1958 and was the seventh child in a family of nine children. He joined the Jackson Five family band when he was not yet 6 years old. At the age of 8, he took on the role of lead singer with his older brother Jermaine. Young Michael was the best dancer and singer in the Jackson family band and gradually climbed to the top of the entertainment world.

In 1968, the Jackson Five signed a contract with the famous Motown record label and this was the launch pad for their success. The group’s first single was released 2 years later when Michael Jackson was 11 years old. Famous songs associated with the Jackson Five such as I Want You Back , ABC , The Love You Save and I’ll Be There were all released during this time and took turns holding the number 1 position on the charts. The Jackson Five also set a record in music history when their first 4 singles all reached number 1.

Brilliant solo career

As he entered adulthood, Michael Jackson embarked on a solo career as the Jackson Five faded from popularity. His career really took off when he teamed up with Quincy Jones. The two shared a vision for his future as an adult artist. Jackson’s 1979 album Off The Wall, with Jones’ assistance, was an unexpected success. With songwriting assistance from Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder, Off the Wall had four Top 10 hits and two No. 1 hits: Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough and Rock with You .

At the age of 22, Michael Jackson had become not only one of the world’s most beloved pop artists, but also one of the most famous people on the planet. His true career peak came with the release of Thriller in 1981, which became one of the best-selling albums of all time. Seven of the album’s nine songs were Top 10 hits, and the album was again produced by Quincy Jones.

It was Thriller that made Michael Jackson the King of Pop. The album’s enduring success surprised many, even though no one doubted Michael’s talent. Thriller remained on the charts for two years and for a long period of 37 weeks, Michael Jackson’s album had no rivals. Thriller also helped him reap countless awards, including a record-breaking 8 categories of the prestigious Grammy Awards.

On March 25, 1983, Michael Jackson marked another peak in his career when he debuted his unique moonwalk dance style, in a special live television program called Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever . For a long time after that, this magical dance of his became an inspiration for young artists around the world.

In the years following his Thriller peak , Michael Jackson’s life began to take on a more eccentric tone. Doctors diagnosed him with albinism and his skin began to undergo controversial medical procedures to lighten it. Yet his musical talent was undeniable. Together with Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson wrote We Are the World , a 1985 charity single that raised an estimated $50 million to help fight poverty in Africa. It was also a staple in countless humanitarian programs around the world in the years that followed.

Eccentric life

After releasing the album Bad (1987), which was far less successful than Thriller , Michael Jackson bought the vast Neverland Ranch in California and from there his eccentricity in public also reached its peak. However, his appeal remained unchanged. This was proven when he participated in an interview with the “queen of television” Oprah Winfrey in 1993, which became one of the most watched programs in American history, not a sports program.

But not long after, Michael Jackson was accused of child molestation and sued by Evan Chandler, on behalf of his 13-year-old son Jordan. The record-breaking $22 million trial later cleared him, but the stress of the legal battle left Michael Jackson in excruciating pain. He eventually became dependent on stimulants.

Michael Jackson’s marriage to Elvis Presley’s only daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, continued to put him in the spotlight. But the marriage only lasted for two years before it fell apart. Despite his personal troubles, Michael Jackson still tried to maintain his music career by releasing Invincible and holding two concerts to celebrate his 30th anniversary at Madison Square Garden in New York. These special concerts were held just days before the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Despite his eccentric image and eccentric behavior, Michael Jackson still makes people forget all that when he gets on stage. At the age of 40, he can still dance and sing better than anyone in the world and his star power is still intact. After several years of musical silence, Michael Jackson is planning a huge comeback this summer with sold-out shows in London scheduled for mid-July.

But it all ended when he suddenly passed away this morning, leaving shock and grief across the planet.
