Shaquille O’Neal has spoken out against the Miami Heat team hanging legend Michael Jordan’s jersey in the hall of honor.
Michael Jordan is one of the legends of the NBA and many teams in the league keep the number 23 jersey (Jordan’s familiar number) as a respect for his contributions to the basketball career. But this action also met with opposition from some stars in the league, including Shaquille O’Neal.

Speaking on The Big Podcast with Shaq, the former Miami Heat star and NBA legend said: “I don’t want to disrespect anyone. But to be fair, what the Miami Heat has is partly because of the group we built. Michael Jordan and Bill Russell never played for the Heat. They built their careers with the Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics. As one of the first generation players who won championships with the Miami Heat , I don’t like that.”

With his fame, Jordan became a global celebrity and his greatness is still respected to this day. Jordan is considered by many to be the greatest player in NBA history and the Bulls retired his jersey number in his honor. Not only the Bulls, Jordan’s jersey number is also in the Miami Heat’s Hall of Fame.

The Miami Heat also showed enough respect for Jordan to retire his jersey number so that no other player could own it. However, some players disagreed with the move. According to O’Neal, if you have never played for the team and competed for it, hanging up a jersey of a player outside the team is unacceptable.
