At the end of the finale, Michael Bublé called Sofronio Vasquez his “Filipino brother” and told him, “You are the hope of so many people — not just in the Philippines, but Asians everywhere, truly.

They are looking at you tonight and are so proud, and you represent them so well. It has been such an unbelievable journey to be here with you, so thank you.”

Sofronio (age 32 from Mindanao, Philippines) was a four-chair turn in the blind auditions with the song “I’m Goin’ Down,” joining Team Bublé. He then won his battle of “The Power of Love” against Aliyah Khaylyn.

In the knockouts, he sang “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” and beat out Kiara Vega and Jeremy Beloate. Sofronio performed “Crying” in the playoffs, “If I Can Dream” and “Every Breath You Take” in the top eight, “Unstoppable” and “A Million Dreams” in the top five, and “Who’s Lovin’ You” in the finale as his coach duet.
