MANILA – Daniel Padilla won the best actor award at the 37th Luna Awards for his role as a frustrated musician alongside his love team partner Kathryn Bernardo in “The Hows of Us.”

The young actor defeated a strong field, including the late great Eddie Garcia (Rainbow’s Sunset), Dingdong Dantes (“Sid & Aya”), and Christian Bables (“Signal Rock”).

“The Hows of Us” centers on the sweet romantic relationship of the two leads, including Padilla’s Primo, that steadily became toxic. It became the country’s highest grossing Filipino film at one point last year, before being overtaken by “Hello, Love, Goodbye.”

It was directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, and was billed as possibly one of the blockbuster director’s final films.

The other big winners of the 37th Luna Awards were Chito S. Roño. who was named best director for “Signal Rock,” and Glaiza de Castro, who bagged best actress for “Liway.”

The awards night, by the Film Academy of the Philippines, was held at the Maybank Performing Arts Theater in Taguig this Saturday. Check out the full list of winners below:
