David Beckham and King Charles have one major thing in common besides being British. The monarch and the former pro soccer player both have a passion for bees, and exchange tips on how to be the best beekeepers they can be.

On June 1, Beckham was named ambassador of The King’s Foundation, Charles’s charity that aims to help people design their communities. Speaking about his latest appointment, Beckham told Hello! that it was an honor to visit Highgrove Garden for the event and noted that he and Charles exchanged beekeeping advice.

“Having developed a love for the countryside I’m also on a personal mission to learn more about rural skills which is so central to the foundation’s work,” he told the outlet. “It was inspiring to hear from the King about the work of His Majesty’s foundation during my recent visit to Highgrove Gardens — and compare beekeeping tips!”

“I’m excited to be working with the King’s Foundation and to have the opportunity to help raise awareness of the charity’s work,” Beckham added. “I’m particularly looking forward to supporting the foundation’s education programmes and its efforts to ensure young people have greater access to nature.”

This wasn’t the first time that Beckham and Charles were buzzing to each other about their love of bees. Vanity Fair reported in 2023 that Beckham once gifted the monarch a jar of honey with the bees that he raised during the pandemic.

“I made some honey for you. It comes from my bees in Oxfordshire,” Beckham told Charles during the ceremony for the British Fashion Council Foundation, which took place after Charles’s coronation. The King replied, “Really? Well, I’ll have to swap it with the one that I do.”
