In a hilarious new ad for the brand, bar-goers didn’t recognize the pro athlete

David Beckham is partnering with Stella Artois — at the expense of his ego!

On Tuesday, the Anheuser-Busch brand announced a collaboration with the soccer pro in a hilarious video. The ad features bar-goers caring more about beer than meeting Beckham.

At the start of the video (above), Beckham is seen sitting down at a sleek bar and ordering a Stella Artrois. As the draft seductively funnels into the branded glass, other patrons are seen ogling in Beckham’s direction, leading viewers to believe they’re his fans.

The professional athlete catches them eyeing him, but quickly turns around as they get up to presumably greet him. One of the women puts her hand on his shoulder, but instead of professing her love as a fan, she says “excuse me,” and grabs the two foamy Stella Artois beers that he was blocking.

Clearly sensing his bruised ego, the bartender gives Beckham a pity smile as he shrugs off the encounter with a smirk.

The title of the brand’s campaign, “A Taste Worth More,” cheekily plays on the fact that a sip of Stella Artois is worth more than meeting Beckham at a bar, per a release.

For Beckham, the partnership is a natural fit. “The brand and its distinctive taste has been a favorite for years,” he said in the release.

Beckham’s taste in premiere food and drink extends beyond beer. Recently, wife Victoria Beckham shared his go-to healthy eating routine, including their favorite green juice recipe.

Her Instagram Story featured a picture of apple cider vinegar. “First thing when I wake up, a couple of tablespoons on an empty tummy every morning,” the caption read.

She then took viewers through a clip of her husband making the green juice they enjoy every morning.

“So David is preparing the green juice,” Victoria said as David chopped fruits and veggies. “So, every morning after we’ve had our apple cider vinegar we have green juice.”

She listed the ingredients, which include spinach, broccoli, cucumber, celery, lemon, ginger and lime.

“And also, always put some fruit in as well,” Victoria added. “So here we’ve got some apple. We’re also going to put some pear in. ‘Cause if not, these green juices can get a little bit scary.”
