Mike Tyson and Jake Paul will face off in a boxing exhibition on July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The event will broadcast on Netflix, costing the viewers only the price of a Netflix subscription. The match poses significant earnings potential for both fighters, with Paul estimating his revenue could be around $300 million and Tyson slated to earn $20 million.
The plans for this high-stakes bout raised concerns due to Mike Tyson’s age—57—prompting some members of the boxing community to question his safety. Responding to these worries, Tyson dismissed the criticisms as “jealousy” over the widespread interest the event has attracted.
Jake Paul initially joked about fighting Tyson during his appearance on “The Journey Podcast” saying,
“I’ll start eating Krispy Kreme doughnuts and move up to heavyweight and take on Mike Tyson. That would actually excite me and that’s a $300m event. So, Mike if you’re watching this let’s have some fun. New school vs old school, I think that’s something the fans would want to see.”
Alongside this headline event, there will be an undercard fight featuring Amanda Serrano versus Katie Taylor in a rematch for the undisputed super lightweight championship—a follow-up to their 2022 bout that ended in a split decision win for Taylor. Jake Paul announced this undercard battle earlier.
Both main events promise spectators intense competition and clarity about professional limits within sports like boxing where age and endurance form part of public discourse.
Mike Tyson is a retired professional boxer known globally for his fierce punching power and intimidating presence inside the ring. His career highlights include holding the undisputed world heavyweight championship in the late 1980s.
Jake Paul, originally gaining fame as a social media personality and actor, has recently carved out a name for himself in boxing with a series of high-profile matches against other celebrities and athletes transitioning into combat sports.
