Mike Tyson’s former coach worries for the boxing legend ahead of his bout against Jake Paul.
Mike Tyson’s former coach has issued a warning to him ahead of his fight against Jake Paul.
Tyson will return to the ring on July 20 when he faces Paul at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
It will be his first appearance since his exhibition bout against fellow legend Roy Jones Jr back in November 2020.
Brad Rowe, who helped train ‘Iron’ Mike for his clash against Jones Jr, has expressed his worry after watching footage of the boxing icon going through his paces in training camp.
The 57-year-old took to social media to show off his running speed as he sent a message to Paul.
But Rowe, a former bodybuilder, worries for Tyson, having recalled what he witnessed when he worked with the former world heavyweight champion.
“Mike is a unicorn,” he said. “He is stiff and uncoordinated in so many aspects of training. Then when he enters the ring, he turns into a ballerina. It’s unexplainable.”
Rowe then revealed a conversation he had with Tyson as he encouraged him to ease into the running drills.
“Day 1 he’s like, ‘No, (expletive) you. I’m sprinting’,” Rowe said. “So, I was like, ‘All right. Let’s pray for no injuries today’.”

Rowe added that he feared Tyson might suffer a hamstring injury.
“Because especially with someone older, an athlete like that that’s not used to that explosive moment.”
Tyson looks to be in supreme shape ahead of returning to action against ‘The Problem Child’.
But there are still some concerns over the ageing fighter as he prepares for his summer showdown.
