New date for Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul is announced after controversial fight originally scheduled for July 20 was postponed

Jake Paul’s postponed fight with Mike Tyson has been rescheduled for November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The upcoming bout was originally scheduled for July 20 until the 57-year-old Tyson suffered a medical emergency during a cross-country flight on May 26. The highly anticipated rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano is also being moved to November 15 at the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

‘Although we had to postpone the fight, I will resume training shortly,’ Tyson said in a statement. ‘I am thankful to the medical staff that treated me and to [Most Valuable Promotions], Netflix, and AT&T Stadium for working diligently to find the best reschedule date for all parties.

‘While we have a new date, the result will be the same no matter when we fight,’ he added. ‘Jake Paul is getting knocked out. On Friday, November 15, watch this in-person at AT&T Stadium or live on Netflix.”

The rescheduled date comes as a bit of a surprise following speculation that the bout would be cancelled. Sports Illustrated‘s Chris Mannix reported there was ‘genuine concern’ about whether Tyson will ever be able to fight Paul following his mysterious medical emergency, which has been described as an ‘ulcer issue.’

Mike Tyson is 57 years old; he’s almost 58 years old,’ Mannix told ‘The Rich Eisen’ show about the former heavyweight champion’s medical issues. ‘They’re saying it’s a minor ulcer issue, but I don’t think anything’s minor at that stage of your life, especially when it comes to putting yourself in the proper shape to fight a professional boxing match.

According to a previous statement by MVP, Paul’s promotion, tickets will be honored for the new date and anyone unable to attend is eligible for a refund.

Tyson’s reported ulcer flareup occurred onboard an American Airlines flight from Miami to LA on Sunday, May 26 – forcing flight staff to ask passengers if there was a doctor on board to provide assistance.

Tyson said that he was ‘doing great’ in recovery, but clearly he wasn’t in good enough health to keep the scheduled July 20 fight.

Of course, he isn’t exactly facing heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Paul, a natural cruiserweight, is 9-1 in the ring. And that record is diminished by his underwhelming opponents, including former NBA star Nate Robinson and converted MMA fighters like Tyron Woodley and Nate Diaz.

Against natural boxers, the former YouTuber is just 2-1, including his 2023 loss to Tommy Fury.

Paul was hoping to legitimize himself by fighting Tyson, but that’s going to be a tough sell for boxing audiences.

Not only did Tyson retire in 2005, but he was just 1-3 in his last four fights, including ugly losses to middling heavyweights like Kevin McBride and Danny Williams.
