MANILA — As the Senate heard issues surrounding the broadcast franchise of ABS-CBN on Monday, its biggest homegrown stars, including Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, made known their support for the Kapamilya network through social media.

Clad in white and wearing a ribbon with the iconic colors of the ABS-CBN logo, the real-life and onscreen partners are each seen posing for a portrait released by Star Magic, notably as the Senate hearing was ongoing.

Their portraits include the hashtags, #StarMagicStandswithABSCBN and #InTheServiceOfTheFilipino.

Star Magic, the talent management arm of ABS-CBN, posted similar portraits of its other prime artists, including Piolo Pascual, Kim Chiu, Shaina Magdayao, Sam Milby, Maymay Entrata, Edward Barber, and Pokwang.

Previously, the likes of Angelica Panganiban, Jericho Rosales, Julia Barretto, Ivana Alawi, Jolina Magdangal, Joshua Garcia, and Janella Salvador were featured in Star Magic’s campaign.

The campaign was launched last week after the Office of the Solicitor General, which earlier sought to void the franchise of ABS-CBN with the Supreme Court, petitioned a gag order on the network, including its associated talents.

Previously, fellow Kapamilya stars such as Coco Martin, Judy Ann Santos, Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, Vice Ganda, Angel Locsin, and Anne Curtis voiced out their support for their home network.

Aside from some 11,000 jobs at risk should ABS-CBN be forced to cease its broadcast operations, supporters have called the move to block its franchise as a threat to press freedom.
