IT was a whirlwind romance.
Not the love affair between Coco Martin and Julia Montes who now have been more open about their togetherness although not verbally admitting their relationship, but the cinematic liaison among Coco, Julia and the people in and out of Pola, Oriental Mindoro.
Martin and Montes have been staying in Pola for the last two weeks of the month to shoot an important film about a colorful story of a local policeman and his family who went through the challenges of personal, filial and societal problems.
Before Coco and Julia faced up the movie cameras they had the privilege to go around and observe the mood and atmosphere of Pola under the leadership of its mayor, the former sexy actress Ina Alegre.
As a matter of fact, it was Ina who initially announced the reteaming of Martin and Montes on the big screen in her social media posts.
It must be recalled that the two met and teamed up in the film “Padre de Familia” with Nora Aunor with Adolf Alix, Jr. at the helm. It was allegedly in this project that the romantic bond between Coco and Julia started to connect to each other.
The two stars were with award-winning screenwriter and director Armando “Bing” Lao who was the script consultant for the film which until now has no title.
According to internationally renowned filmmaker Brillante Ma. Mendoza, the director of the project which has no title yet—even a working title—the film has been an ideal yet delayed assignment for Martin and Montes.
“We are contemplating on adapting the town name Pola as title of the movie,” said Brillante who has many good memories of the headlining again of his stars in one film.
“The project has been working in Coco’s mind for a long time already,” admitted Mendoza who found it more challenging this to direct Martin after a series of their independently made films like “Masahista,” “Tirador,” “Serbis,” “Foster Child,” among others.
“Dahil marami nang nagawa si Coco sa mainstream production, marami rin siyang adjustments sa pag-arte dito sa pelikulang ito (Because Coco had done a lot of mainstream productions, he had also a lot of adjustments acting in this film),” informed Brillante.
Dante Mendoza, the director’s other professional name, was also witness to the sweetness and loving intimacy of Coco and Julia.
It was like a honeymoon on the set, many had observed which included Dante’s production manager Oscar Cruz.
Also starring in the police story is Raymart Santiago.
