Andrea Brillantes gushed about a scene in the TV series “High Street,” where she got to trade cinematic slaps with her co-star Dimples Romana, a career milestone that the younger actress considers an “honor.”
On Instagram, Brillantes said that slapping her co-stars is one of the most difficult scenes to film, as she shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse of her confrontation scene with Romana.
“Some of the most difficult scenes to perform as an actor are scenes like these,” she said. “Grabe it’s my first time ever to ever sampal a veteran actress like Ate Dimples Romana, and wow, what an honor!”
Brillantes then recalled how she was the one always receiving a slap from Romana, especially in the afternoon drama “Kadenang Ginto,” where the latter plays Brillantes’ onscreen mother. In “High Street,” Romana is the antagonist to Brillantes’ character, Sky Love Cruz.
She further said that a being part of a slapfest is really part of their job as actors, and something which she wanted to do right in order to give justice to their characters and provide satisfying scenes for their viewers.
Romana, on the other hand, praised Brillantes’ acting while noting the “Mondragon training” she had in “Kadenang Ginto” was worth it.
“My Marga, all the Mondragon training did you sooo good and it bit me right in the [butt cheeks]. It was painful, and memorable, and sooo good all the same time. And I wouldn’t want it any other way. Here’s to more for you and for us. Brava,” she said in the comments of Brillantes’ post.
Brillantes leads the cast of “High Street,” the sequel to the youth drama “Senior High,” which also stars Juan Karlos Labajo, Xyriel Manabat, Elijah Canlas, Zaijian Jaranilla, Miggy Jimenez, Angel Aquino, and Romnick Sarmenta.
