The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said on August 14 that it is monitoring two tropical storms outside the country’s monitoring area (PAR).

According to the PAGASA weather bulletin, severe tropical storm Ampil is currently 1,785 kilometers northeast of northernmost Luzon with sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 115 kilometers per hour.

Meanwhile, tropical storm Wukong is 2,935 kilometers northeast of northernmost Luzon with sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour.

Ampil is moving northeast at 20 kilometers per hour, while Wukong is almost stationary.

PAGASA said the tropical storms have not affected the country’s weather so far.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon continues to affect some parts of Luzon.

The southwest monsoon will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Batanes and Babuyan Islands. Cloudy conditions with scattered showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

Flash floods or landslides may occur due to these weather conditions. Seas will be light to moderate over the next 1-2 days.
