Yulo is set to receive from Megaworld a 3-bedroom fully furnished McKinley Hill condo and cash bonus totaling P35 million.
Megaworld president Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso explained that they decided to boost the reward to P35 million because Yulo’s historic win coincided with their company’s 35th anniversary.
She said, “Since this is a very significant milestone in the history of Philippine sports to have two gold Olympic medals during our 100th year participation as a country in the Olympics, which also coincides with our company’s 35th anniversary this year, we are boosting our reward for Carlos Yulo now totaling to P35 million.”
Megaworld’s statement to Yulo echoes the message of Filipinos, stating, “Thank you for making the country proud.”
Earlier, Megaworld announced that Yulo will receive a 2-bedroom fully furnished unit that comes with 2 balconies, and a separate maid’s room worth P24 million.
Megaworld is among the many private companies that promised to give their rewards to our Filipino Olympic medalist. Yulo is also set to receive an incentive of P10,000,000 for winning gold under Republic Act 10699, signed in 2015.
At the Paris Olympics, Yulo bagged his first gold for the floor exercise with a sweeping 15.000 score, followed by a score of 15.166 points in the men’s vault finals, granting him his 2nd gold in Paris Olympics artistic gymnastics men’s category. He is the 2nd Filipino to bag an elusive Olympic gold medal, following the historic win of our female weightlifter, Hidilyn Diaz. Yulo’s win will make him one of the most celebrated athletes in Filipino sports history.
