Enrique Gil is happy that he and his longtime girlfriend Liza Soberano decided to focus on their careers and themselves, saying there was one point in their relationship they were “so caught up” in each other.

In a guest appearance on the morning show “Magandang Buhay,” Gil said he’s at “peace” as he and Soberano are focused on their respective careers.

“I’m happy. I’m at peace. I’m happy. Me, I’m focusing on [‘I Am Not Big Bird’]. Liza is also focusing on her own production company and her own projects,” he said when host Regine Velasquez asked him if they could talk about love.

The actor then disclosed there was some point in their relationship where they solely focused on each other without giving themselves the room to grow.

“I’m just really happy that we’re both focused on ourselves first. Because we were so caught up on the two of us so much,” he said. “We talked na nga, this is also really good for us to go on our own path in our career, just to be able to grow. It’s really exciting for me right now, what we’re going to be doing, and giving to the industry.”

Earlier this month, Gil confirmed that he and Soberano are still together but are busy with their respective showbiz careers. The latter earlier made her Hollywood debut as cheerleader Taffy in the film “Lisa Frankenstein” and is currently carrying on promotions.

The actor, on the other hand, is busy promoting his new film “I Am Not Big Bird” which also stars Red Ollero, Nikko Natividad, and Pepe Herrera.
