Ogie Alcasid, in a recent post, shared the tribute made by @opmsingers for the late Aegis vocalist, Mercy Sunot.

In his repost on Instagram, one can see the black and white photo of Mercy showing her usual broad smile with eyes that are full of life.

In the caption on the said post, @opmsingers thanked the Aegis vocalist for inspiring many and for sharing her extraordinary talent to the world.

“Yesterday, we bid farewell to an incredible talent and a beloved voice that touched millions,” @opmsingers wrote in the caption as reposted by Ogie in his own Instagram account.

“Mercy Sunot, the iconic vocalist of the Aegis Band, brought life to timeless songs that will forever echo in our hearts. Thank you for sharing your gift with the world, inspiring generations, and giving us music that defined moments of love, sorrow, and triumph,” @opmsingers further said in the caption.

“You will always be remembered and deeply missed. Rest in peace, Mercy 🌹,” @opmsingers said at the end of their caption.

It can be recalled that the Aegis vocalist died a few days after she underwent a lung operation.

She was able to post a last video on Saturday, November 16, where she gave an indication she had just gone through the operation but experienced difficulty in breathing.

Mercy then asked for prayers from her fans and followers. Last Monday, November 18, news of her passing broke out on social media, and was subsequently confirmed by her band on their official page.

Mercy Sunot is one of the main vocalists of the Pinoy legendary rock band, Aegis. She is known for her vocal power and for singing powerful songs. Aegis is very popular for their songs “Halik,” “Basang-Basa Sa Ulan,” “Luha,” “Sinta,” and many more. The band was able to maintain their popularity in more than two decades in the industry with their songs becoming part of the lives of many generations of Pinoy music.

Mercy, just several days before she died, was still able to upload her own APT dance challenge on social media several days before her operation. It can be recalled that Mercy underwent a lung operation last week and on Saturday, was able to post her last video appealing for prayers. News of the Aegis vocalist passing away broke out early morning yesterday, November 18. The Aegis vocalist celebrated her birthday just last November 6, which is also the day of her posting of the APT dance challenge.

Mercy’s sudden demise took the Pinoy entertainment world by surprise. A couple of celebrities and singers joined thousands of Pinoys in expressing their condolences to her loved ones. Among them were Paco Arespacochaga, Jay Sonza, and Saira Bunny Paras. One of the main vocalists of the legendary Pinoy rock band, Aegis, Mercy recently underwent lung surgery.
