MANILA — Vice Ganda honored Regine Velasquez during the Pride March 2024 thanksgiving event for being a solid ally to the LGBT community.

During Vice’s performance, Velasquez made a surprise appearance and sang a mash-up of “Stronger” by Britney Spears and “You’ve Made Me Stronger” by the OPM singer.

After their number, Vice stressed how Velasquez’s music helped members of the community feel better.

“To my LGBTQIA+ community, listen to this. We are a community of normal, valid, able, capable, and beautiful human beings and do not let anyone or any group tell us otherwise,

“Most of us, the influence of Regine Velasquez-Alcasid is huge. She made being gay taste good when we were still gay,” Vice said.

“Thank you so much for your inspiration, your music and your love for our community. We will forever look up to you, applaud you, and love you,” they added.

Vice vowed that they will continue to use their platform to push forward the passage of the SOGIESC Equality Bill.

“Let’s not agree to just live, ‘those who live without, and as if we are their only creation, we must live with rights, with freedom, and with dignity. Right, freedom, and dignity to be our true Our true selves and personalities are like the West Philippine Sea, they cannot possess and change,” they said.

“So you live, you fight, you carry your rights, freedom, dignity, and protection from the law and the government. They say and I believe that a man is equal to the state and is equal to the church therefore equal to any other man. I’m Vice Ganda and expect me to join the fight, shouting to pass the SOGIESC Anti-Discrimination Bill.”
