MANILA, Philippines – Karylle opens up about the ongoing feud between It’s Showtime and Eat Bulaga, her controversial kiss with Vice Ganda, and starting a family with her husband, Yael Yuzon.

In an interview with reporters during the Promil iShine Talent Camp Season 4 event on Wednesday, September 30, where she was announced as a celebrity mentor alongside Xian, Karylle shared how thrilled the It’s Showtime team was about garnering over 6.5 million tweets for its Kapamilya Day anniversary celebration.

“It was really great. We saw all the pictures. All together, it was cute, like a big family album, right? Even now, when I see our pictures, it brings happiness. Especially the highlights and the ones where everyone had their cellphones, dancing. It was really nice,” she said.

Karylle also teased that fans should look forward to her upcoming performance with Jhong Hilario for Magpasikat.

“I am very excited. I really know our tandem is great. We have the possibility of winning it,” she added.

Contrary to earlier reports, Karylle explained that she wasn’t surprised by the kiss. She revealed that she and Vice Ganda had previously discussed doing something special to make their “Vicerylle” fans happy.

“I didn’t know if he would actually do it or not. It’s always like that—we talk about it. It was just a tender moment,” she explained.

“We were always paired up. In Sine Mo ‘To, that’s where it all started—the teasing. Then we had the Lenten special, where Vice and I were partners. The Vicerylle fans loved it,” she added.

Though they talked about it beforehand, Karylle admitted she didn’t think Vice would actually go through with it, emphasizing that it wasn’t a big deal since they’re both actors.

“I don’t like to be too predictable. I leave space for surprises. I prefer natural, spontaneous reactions because they feel more genuine,” she said.

Karylle assured everyone that her husband, Yael, wasn’t offended by the segment, as he understands it’s part of her job as an actress.

“I like that Yael can express himself without anyone editing him so people can understand that he’s very open-minded. I’m happy that he wasn’t silent and was able to speak his mind,” she shared.

“He never said he was against it. People just misunderstood him. Of course, as a rock star, he has his own way of thinking and feeling. I always say, ‘I’m glad I’m the actor,’ because if it were the other way around, I might not handle it as well and be more jealous,” she laughed.

When asked about starting a family, Karylle revealed that she and Yael are preparing and praying for it.

“In God’s perfect time, it will come. We’re trying to be as healthy as possible. We’re preparing, like doing our own chores since it’s just the two of us at home. Slowly, we’re building our little nest for the baby,” she said.

On rivalry with Eat Bulaga

Despite the fierce competition between It’s Showtime and Eat Bulaga, Karylle shared that the rivalry has brought out the best in both shows.

She explained that the competition pushed both programs to innovate and find creative ways to make their fans happy. Karylle noted that the introduction of new segments even helped It’s Showtime draw in more viewers than before.

“I was reviewing the numbers, and we’re actually doing better than we’ve ever done. There are more people watching,” she stated.

However, Karylle expressed her dismay over the negativity between fans of the two noontime shows, particularly on social media.

“It’s a bit sad that there’s even a word like ‘basher’ and ‘hater.’ I think it takes too much energy. I just wish the country’s overall atmosphere could be happier. We’re always complaining—whether it’s about traffic or other issues. We should focus on being proactive in finding solutions,” she remarked.

“Complaints, hating, and bashing should be the least of our concerns because they take up so much of our day. And it trickles down into everything else we do in life,” she concluded.
