Jak Roberto and David Licauco’s relationship reportedly became strained due to their involvement with Barbie Forteza. The tension between the two actors sparked public interest when rumors of a falling out began circulating. According to some reports, Jak and David’s disagreement was largely fueled by Barbie, who has been romantically linked to both men in different contexts.
Barbie Forteza, a popular actress, had been in a relationship with Jak Roberto for quite some time, and their bond was frequently in the public eye. However, when Barbie and Jak’s relationship ended, rumors surfaced suggesting that David Licauco, who was a close friend of both, became involved in a more personal way with Barbie. This shift reportedly upset Jak, leading to a misunderstanding between him and David.
The situation garnered a lot of attention from fans and netizens, who speculated about the nature of the rift. Some felt that the tension between Jak and David was inevitable, given the complexities of their relationships with Barbie. In the end, the situation highlights how personal relationships can sometimes lead to complications in friendships and public perceptions.
Barbie Forteza and David Licauco have undeniably strong chemistry onscreen, as seen in “Maria Clara at Ibarra” and “Maging Sino Ka Man.”
In an interview with the members of the press during Tuesday’s Sparkle Goes to Canada media conference, Barbie said her onscreen relationship with David had turned into something “deeper” than their love team.
“May lalim na,” the 26-year-old actress said.
Barbie admitted that in the early days of their love team, she used to wonder how things would work between her and David. But all is well now, as the two have already gotten to know each other well.
“Honestly, ako po, noong bago pa lang po ang FiLay o ang BarDa, aaminin ko andon ako sa ‘papaano? How will we make this work? ’ tapos parang ngayon nakarating na kami sa point na alam na namin kung paano ang isa’t-isa,” she continued.
“I feel like we are a team already,” Barbie told reporters.
“At the end of the day, kapag tapos na yung show, tapos na ang work. Nakikilala na namin ang isa’t-isa as David and Barbie,” she said.
Echoing her, David said that Barbie is the only actress he is close to in the showbiz industry and expressed how much he appreciates his on-screen partner.
“I think I would say si Barbie ang pinaka-close ko na babae sa showbiz. Siya lang ata yung close ko na babae sa showbiz. I super appreciate her because she tries her best to understand me, sa personality ko,” he said.
He also thanked Barbie for making him feel “comfortable” working in the showbiz industry.
“Gusto kong sabihin sa ‘yo na thank you dahil you make me feel comfortable in showbiz. Alam mo naman na hindi ako masyadong ma-showbiz, mahiyain kasi akong tao. So I think with her around, makes me feel I’m okay, I’m comfy. Yun lang, thank you,” the Pambansang Ginoo said.
Their characters, Fidel and Klay, in the series have captured the hearts of viewers, and they started rooting for them together.
After “Maria Clara at Ibarra,” they starred in their first lead role as a love team in “Maging Sino Ka Man.” The show is a remake of the iconic ’90s film of the same name, which starred Sharon Cuneta and Robin Padilla.
Barbie and David also have a forthcoming movie, “That Kind of Love.”
Team BarDa will be flying to Canada in April to perform in shows together with Julie Anne San Jose and Rayver Cruz, and Bianca Umali and Ruru Madrid. Kapuso comedian Boobay will be joining the love teams in shows that will be directed by Johnny Manahan.
