Kapamilya singer Gary Valenciano was still in awe after meeting double gold Olympic medalist Carlos Yulo, who previously visited the Kapamilya variety show ASAP.

On his social media page, Gary wrote a message of appreciation for Carlos, who became an inspiration to many Filipinos after his triumphant journey in the international sports competition.

“‘Til now I can’t stop replaying in my mind the moment he was introduced on ASAP yesterday. Tears filled the eyes of many, including mine, who witnessed it,” Gary said.

Gary then expressed his hope for greater and wider support for other Filipino athletes to continue the golden era of Philippine sports.

“I do pray that many more people take the courage of believing in what the athletes of this country can accomplish,” he added.

Gary went on: “This is a young man who was plucked out of the city streets as a child and trained to become what he is today; an example, an inspiration, a beacon of hope, a dream come true, a champion, a national hero. The first Filipino two-time Olympic gold medalist.”

In the latter part of his message, Gary congratulated Carlos and expressed how proud he is of the young athlete.

“Carlos, you didn’t need any height, but might in your heart, passion in your soul, and God in your spirit. In the end you stood higher than the rest of what the world had to offer,” he stated.

“May many many more athletes be discovered and supported in the years to come. Congrats @c_edrielzxs 🥇🥇🇵🇭❤️.”

Ogie Alcasid also took to his social media page a selfie photo with Carlos, saying, “A golden smile from a man who has a golden achievement twice over. Salute!!! It was an extreme honor to have met you Carlos Yulo!!”

Martin Nievera also posted, “Thank you @c_edrielzxs for this golden moment and for making us all proud to be Filipino! Shine on my friend! Thank you also @eriksantos for taking this picture. @asapofficial.”

Last Sunday, September 8, ASAP aired its episode of giving a warm tribute to the Filipino gymnast where several Kapamilya celebrities cheered and honored him.

“Today is a special day because we will be joined by a champion,” Martin said.

“Ang superhero natin na nagbuhos ng kaniyang buong puso sa kaniyang laban,” Ogie added.

“He has proven that nothing is impossible with hard work and dedication,” Regine Velasquez exclaimed.

“Dala-dala niya, hindi lang ang kaniyang pangalan kung hindiang pangalan ng buong Pilipinas,” Erik Santos stated.

“We are proud to welcome our country’s pride, Carlos Yulo!” Gary added.

Mag-iingat po tayo palagi and God bless us all,” he added.

Prior to the aired episode, Carlos also visited the ABS-CBN compound accompanied by Gymnastics Association of the Philippines President Cynthia Carrion.

Carlos was then welcomed by ABS-CBN CEO and President Carlo Katigbak, Chairman Mark Lopez, Head of Broadcast Cory Vidanes, ABS-CBN Board member Charo Santos-Concio, and employees at the ELJ Communications Center.
