Carlos Yulo’s cute video on training with Hazel Calawod, his therapist, amused many netizens.

In the video uploaded on Facebook by @KuyaLeovlogz, one can see Carlos deep in training with Hazel doing a hands-on approach in assisting the Pinoy Olympian as he prepared himself for upcoming competitions.

Hazel would closely watch Carlos as he does routines for various gymnastics activities and would touch the Pinoy Olympian’s muscles to see if he’s targeting the right areas and if such locations are making the right contractions.

“I help Carlos with bio-mechanics and I get data so he can see how we’ll he’s improving day by day. Yung body niya, yung physical condition niya, as per his performance in different apparatus po is much stronger,” Hazel said.

Meanwhile, in a previous news report of ABS-CBN, Hazel was described as the Pinoy Golden Boy’s sports occupational therapist.

In her interview, Hazel explained what her role is in Carlos’ training and also revealed important information about the routine of the Pinoy Olympian.

“Doon po sa gameplan namin, we need to make sure that we have to increase yung strength. Dapat ma-constantly motivate and ma-focus yung utak ni Mr. Yulo doon sa mga tasks at hand. But we didn’t overwhelm him. And the gameplan was first work on the first three na specializations niya, which was vault, parallel bars, and floor,” Hazel revealed in her interview.

“One of the best things na I think nakatulong sa kanya yung lagi mo siyang mino-motivate. Every training, yung ma-focus siya dun sa goal, ‘eto goal mo diba?’, ‘o, okay, ready ka na ba mag-train?’, para di niya makalimutan na dun siya papunta,” she added.

In another previous interview, Hazel underscored the importance of mental health in every athlete, and in this case, Carlos.

“Despite the physical aspect of being an athlete, a big battle within them really is how are they going to gain that momentum mentally. So now that you are getting a lot of technical information to front for the gameplan, how is he managing it from a Carlos Yulo perspective,” she said.

Near the end of her interview with ABS-CBN, Hazel thanked Pinoys and all of those who supported Carlos and their entire group.

“Salamat po sa suporta ninyo sa kanya, sa grupo po namin, salamat din po na nagbigay kayo ng energy nyo, kasi naiintindihan ko din na kung kulang yung energy na nabibigay sa amin, baka hindi rin po nabuo yung ganitong resulta ng grupo. Naka-gawa po tayo together ng magandang history ng Pilipinas,” Hazel said.

Carlos Edriel Yulo is a Filipino artistic gymnast known for his exceptional skills and achievements in gymnastics. He gained international recognition for his performances in various competitions, particularly in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He won two gold medals in gymnastics’ men’s floor exercise and men’s vault in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

A couple of days ago, Hazel also took time to express her gratitude to all of those who sent her their congratulatory messages and support after the victory of Carlos at the Olympics. Hazel said that the messages of support and love she received is a huge blessing for her.

Meanwhile, Carlos’ girlfriend, Chloe San Jose, did not let another harsh comment about her pass. She penned a fiery reply to a netizen who questioned her education and her ability to afford a business class flight. The basher likewise compared Chloe with the Olympian’s family and his occupational therapist, Hazel Calawod. Chloe then disproved the rude netizen’s tirade and encouraged peace and love in her response.
