The Philippine Embassy in Vietnam advised Filipinos residing in the northern part of the country to stay alert against anticipated heavy rainfall in the area from August 11 to 15.
According to an advisory, the Vietnam National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting has predicted at least 100 to 250 mm rainfall over the following areas in Northern Vietnam:

Lai Chau
Son La
Hoa Binh
Lao Cai
Yen Bai
Tuyen Quang
Phu Tho
Cao Bang
Bac Kan
Thai Nguyen
Lang Son
Bac Giang
Bac Ninh
Quang Ninh
Vinh Phuc
Ha Nam
Hai Phong
Nam Dinh
Ninh Binh
Thai Binh
Thanh Hoa
Nghe An
Rainfall was also anticipated to reach 400 mm in some areas.
The Embassy said there is a very high risk of flash floods in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas.
“All Filipinos living, working or visiting the following provinces are therefore being strongly advised to take extra precaution and ensure full cooperation with local authorities in case of severe weather conditions from today until 15 August 2024,” the Embassy said in its advisory.
