Carlos Yulo’s video where he demonstrated his fluency in speaking the Japanese language has amazed a lot of people.

In the video, one can see the Pinoy Olympic sensation being interviewed by a Japanese reporter of the PTN News channel.

One can hear both of them talking in rapid Japanese, suggesting that Carlos could already have been a native Japanese speaker at the time of the interview.

While there was no translation of the interview as even the captions were in hiragana, katakana, and kanji characters, which are the system of writing in Japan, it appeared that the interview was about his experience as a student and an athlete training in Japan.

It can be recalled that Carlos attended the Teikyo University, which is located in Itabashi, Tokyo.

He started attending classes as a student and training as a gymnast in Japan beginning 2016 under a scholarship grant from the Japan Olympic Association.

The Pinoy Olympic sensation graduated there in 2022 with an associates degree in Literature.

During the 2024 Paris Olympics, Carlos made history as the first Filipino to clinch two gold medals in a single Olympic season and is also the first Filipino to win a medal in an Olympic gymnastics event.

Carlos Yulo is a Filipino artistic gymnast known for his exceptional skills and achievements in gymnastics. He gained international recognition for his performances in various competitions, particularly in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He won two gold medals in gymnastics’ men’s floor exercise and men’s vault in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Meanwhile, in a video of a recent ambush interview with ABS-CBN, Carlos finally imparted a heartwarming message for his former Japanese coach, Munehiro Kugimiya. It can be recalled that the Pinoy Olympian trained under the wing of Coach Kugimiya beginning 2016. At the time, Carlos was studying at the Teikyo University in Itabashi, Tokyo under a scholarship program by the Japan Olympic Association. In 2023, after seven years of tutelage, Kugimiya and Carlos parted ways without any bad blood between them.

In another video showing the teachers of Carlos Yulo had already spoken about the true attitude and character of the Olympian. Many of them have nothing but kind words for him. His science teacher said that the Adamsonians were all so proud of him. Caloy’s English teacher noted that one thing that really helped Caloy was his humility, underscoring that he was never “mayabang.”
