Here's Why Andrea Brillantes Doesn't Like to Splurge on Designer Items

Most teenagers would list the latest gadget or the new trendy thing as their next expense goal. But 17-year-old actress Andrea Brillantes has something entirely different in mind. Pep.ph reports that the Kadenang Ginto actress has saved up enough to buy her family their own house that stands on a 400-square-meter lot.

In an interview with Bianca Gonzalez for Cinema News: At Home Edition, Andrea divulges that she’s her family’s breadwinner since she started out her luck in showbiz. And because of this situation, she learned the value of her hard-earned peso at an early age. In fact, Andrea considers herself as a frugal person.

“Nagsimula ang pagiging kuripot ko nung 10 years old ako. Nahirapan talaga ako, nalaman ko talaga ang halaga ng pera. Ang hirap-hirap pala niyang kitain, hindi lang pala siya ganun. Tapos nung nagkaroon ako ng responsibility sa buong family ko, mas naging kuripot ako,” she explains.

When asked how she was able to accomplish such a feat at a young age, Andrea shares that it call came down to discipline and prioritization. In all her earnings from small acing roles to major ones, Andrea set aside money to fund their dream home. This also meant veering away from buying luxurious things for herself.

“Hindi ako bumibili ng mga designer,” she revealed. “Hanggang ngayon di pa rin ako bumibili ng mga designer shoes and bags.” Andrea even admits that most of the pretty or expensive things she has were all gifted to her. “Puro mga bigay kasi may pagkakuripot ako,” she said.


Andrea shared her house’s construction progress in a vlog where she revealed that the ground floor will have a movie room and her grandmother’s room, while her mom and her siblings will have their own rooms in the second floor. Andrea will have the third floor all to herself, where she plans to have her ultimate space, featuring a sunbathing spot, drum set, fitness area, and a game zone. Exciting!
