PBA player James Yap has usually been in public scrutiny for his relationship with his three children, James Carlos Aquino Yap Jr., better known as Bimby, Michael James Yap, and Francesca Yap. The Rain or Shine cager usually stays away from the limelight, occasionally posting photos on social media with his kids and their bonding moments.

Though he is separated from former wife Kris Aquino, he says he tries to maintain a good relationship with their teenage son, Bimby. He also has been a dedicated dad to Michael and Francesca, his children to current wife Michaela Cazzola.
