Following his performance in the 2024 Summer League with the Lakers, the team is reportedly in talks to send him to the G-League with the South Bay Lakers to help him develop his talents.

Meanwhile, Bronny’s NBA 2K rating just dropped, and we all know how much players care about those ratings. Even though the USC prospect said, “I feel like I deserve a respectable 80 or 81” when asked about his 2K rating expectations, things didn’t turn out as he hoped. Bronny got a 68 overall, which, compared to his dad LeBron’s rookie rating of 78 in NBA 2K4, feels a bit low. LeBron came into the league as one of the most hyped first-draft picks in 2003, while Bronny was the 55th pick.

LeBron James dropped 13 games with 30+ points in his rookie year and averaged over 20 points per game, while Bronny James barely scraped 5 points per game over his five-game stretch in the Summer League. But James Jr. still has time to level up his game and make it NBA-worthy. In fact, Lakers’ Summer League coach Dane Johnson thinks Bronny can definitely level up, though it might take some time for him to make a significant impact in the league.

“He had two pretty good games last two. I think it’s just going to help him going into the summer so we can work on different things with him. Just that confidence and knowing he can play at this level. It’s still going to take a lot of time and a lot of reps,” the Lakers’ coach said. Even though Bronny’s just starting out in the NBA and his journey is pretty different from his dad, LeBron’s, he looks like he’s got the potential to follow in those big footsteps.

With Bronny and LeBron playing together on the same NBA team, they’d be the first father-son duo in the league. Reportedly, this long-awaited pairing might happen in October. The Lakers have five games that month, so there’s a chance we might see it. There’s no guarantee yet, but since Bronny’s G-League season doesn’t kick off until November, the Lakers could end up making history with both of them on the floor.

Even if they might not be a spectacular duo racking up points together, just think about what it could mean for LeBron James. The King’s turning 40 this year, and while it’s tough to admit he might not have much left in the tank, it’s the truth. Ending his career after playing with Bronny would be a dream come true for him.
