Max Verstappen endured a disappointing Friday in Canada following a rain soaked afternoon of practice.
The champion only managed P18 in the second practice session, retiring to the pits as smoke emerged from his Red Bull. His team confirmed it was an ERS problem, meaning Red Bull face a huge challenge to be ready for tomorrow’s crucial FP3 session.
Charles Leclerc also had a session to forget, with the stewards investigating him for a ‘tyre usage’ incident.

Fernando Alonso came out on top in FP2, with Lance Stroll in third and George Russell splitting the two Aston Martin’s.
Meanwhile, Lando Norris set the fastest time in FP1, closely followed by the Ferraris as the drivers braved the slick tyres towards the end of practice.
